One of my early poems to my Kari with whom, both widowed after long and happy marriages, I fell in love when I was 84 and she 83. While neither of us is ugly, we certainly don’t approach the physical beauty of youth.

A LOVE POEM

When souls are open to love.

When souls “see” each other.

Then love can happen.

Love nurtured grows

into something beautiful.

I saw you. I saw your soul.

I cannot help but love you.

I couldn’t stop if I tried.

And I don’t wish to try.

“She was beautiful, but not like those girls in magazines. She was beautiful, for the way she thought. She was beautiful, for the sparkle in her eyes when she talked about something she loved.

She was beautiful, for her ability to make other people smile, even if she was sad. No, she wasn't beautiful for something as temporary as her looks. She was beautiful, deep down to her soul.” - F Scott Fitzgerald
