Dear friend,
Gift?
I don’t have any particular talent
nor any excess of cash
you may say.
Gift implies I have something to give.
I have no gift to bring, you say.
Others have wonderful gifts
to contribute to the world
but I have none.
If you feel this way
I have a song for you.
A Christmas song in June!
It speaks tenderly
to each one of us who thinks
we have no gift to bring the world.

What IS a gift?
A gift is something
that makes more life available to the receiver.
Have you ever thought this way
about a gift?
That the purpose of a gift
is to make more life available?
Yes, there are many objects
we can purchase
that make more life available:
running shoes, a travel guide, a bike,
a set of paints, a guitar, a microphone…
But a gift doesn’t have to be something we buy.
It can also be
something we ourselves create:
a song
a story
a letter
a painting
a speech…
Each of the gifts above
opens a door for the receiver.
A door of their potential.
No doubt you remember a favorite gift
that did that for you.
A gift that made more life available to you
and you grew because you received it.
We always know
when we receive such a gift.
Our heart leaps!
We also know
when we have given such a gift.
The receiver’s eyes light up!
as a door opens for them.
Our inspiration
The idea for that great gift we gave
came from deep within
our own heart, mind, body and soul.
We had the deep insight
to conceive the idea.
We had the capacity and the desire
to imagine exactly
what would open more life to another person.
Giving our gift
When our heart is full of insightful love
we are able to artfully channel our gift
directly into the heart of the receiver.
Each time we give a gift
that opens up new life
to another soul
we learn more
about how to build.
This is what you and I are doing
here in Solutions!
We are learning how to build!
We are learning
how to make more life available
to ourselves and to others.
Making our contribution
Making a contribution to the world
is no different from giving to an individual.
It’s all about finding something of value
that we can give
from deep within ourselves.
Something that is needed by others.
It could be ideas and insights we share.
It could be services or training we offer.
It could be artistic works we create.
Whatever treasure we have inside us
that opens a door for the receiver
and makes more life available to them.
Our vitality
Our treasure is also our vitality!
Our smile!
The life energy and enthusiasm
we bring to the world!
We can transfer our vitality
to others every day
through how we relate with them.
This is a HUGE gift!
And we can do this anywhere,
in any classroom,
in any job,
in any neighborhood.
We can do this
in the place we are
right now
— in person, online, or both.
Yes
Yes, we all have a precious gift
to contribute to the world.
You have been giving your gift
for many years
and have already touched many lives!
If you aren’t sure what your gift is
just ask the people you love.
They know what they
have been receiving from you!
They know how you have touched them!
Blessings,
Dr. Hall
Question:
What gift gives you the most joy to give?
That goes back to, "It's better to give than receive." As a musician, I received much more than I gave and I gave everything every time I played. As a massage therapist, when someone felt better or was moved further along toward healing, I received an enormous amount. I felt that my life was worthwhile. Nothing was ever as satisfying as giving.
I give gifts every day by simply smiling at whomever I pass by and if appropriate show a small kindness like asking how they are and really caring about their answer. Kindness is the easiest love to share.
