Deborah,

It is with a heavy heart that I share this news with you. I have suffered a stroke. Not a major stroke, but one that has temporarily hindered my writing abilities. So I won't be writing much for the next three to six months. But I'll continue to read with great interest. All the best. Jim

Deborah, as usual I agree with much of your advice to us,

However I do not agree that devoting our energy to helping and rescuing people, especially the many who are marginalized and impoverished, means that we think we are superior to others.

On the contrary, to me it means that we deeply care about others because we know that all people are interdependent and intertwined with other people in this troubled world that we try to live in peacefully together.

I certainly agree that it is Kamala Harris will do her best to bring us back together again, although it will be very difficult for her to do, given all the divisions and hatred that Donald Trump has planted throughout America and spread like a virus throughout the world.

If there is a step beyond thought provoking, today's essay is there. The weekend may be enough time to think it through.
