on being a dreamer
dear friend
have you ever
been called
a dreamer
you know
one of those
unrealistic
impractical people
who are never
going to amount
to anything
congratulations
being called
a dreamer
is an honor
those who
look down
on dreamers
have yet
to realize
that most of
the great leaps
of civilization
were initiated
by dreamers
new vision
dreamers offer
all of us
a new vision
of what is possible
they give us
hope
they take risks
and make sacrifices
to show us
the value
of their vision
only then
after the dream
has become visible
do the realists
come on board
lesson
never wait
for the approval
of the realists
you will die
of old age
i never wait
for the approval
of anyone
i have always
been a dreamer
some
have wondered
if my dreams
would ever
amount to anything
all my life
i have been called
unrealistic
you’d think
that would have
discouraged me
it didn’t
i kept
right on dreaming
and thank god
i did
or i never
would have gotten
to live my dreams
never would
have become
a doctor
and a writer
i am living
my dreams
right now
as i write
this letter
to you
and i’m also
happily in the midst
of bringing
several more
of my “unrealistic” dreams
into being
how about you
are you
a dreamer too
do you ever hear
a bully
coming at you
from the world
or
a bully
coming at you
from inside
your own mind
trying
to shame you
by telling you
be realistic
be practical
don’t
be a dreamer
dreamers
never amount
to anything
what a load
of sadistic lies
in the 60’s
those
kennedy dreamers
jfk and rfk
were
our leaders
back then
rfk declared
some men
see things
as they are
and say why
i dream
of things
that never were
and say
why not
maybe you
are saying
to your self
yeah
but how
can I
ever be
like jfk or rfk
you don’t
need to
you just
need
to give your self
permission to dream
we are all dreamers
we created our dreams
for our future
in early childhood
psychoanalysts call it
our ego ideal
our dreams
remain with us
our whole life
they are there
to sustain us
inspire us
revive us
every one of us
contains original
constructive vision
every one of us
is a potential builder
of the new
and all
our dreams
are needed
our dreams are still calling us
it is never
too late
for us
to revive a dream
we’ve had
all our life
or to dream
a new dream
for ourselves
and for the world
we have it in us
our dreams
are who we are
and there is always
more inside us
than we realize
there is always
a surprise
inside us
a little piece
of a dream
we love
just waiting
for an invitation
to come outside
and play
blessings

Dreams are the place where hope begins. Where possibilities are conceived. Where life rearranges and emerges renewed.
Dream on. 🖖
I was told to give up my dreams and make a career of the Army because I couldn't do anything else. Then I realized the person who said that had given up their dreams to pursue money and in pursuing money had become enslaved to the person who had the money. I never listened to his advice, pursued my dreams and became successful. The success wasn't money, it was the fulfilling of my dreams.
